And the Winners Are... posted by on 02-01-03

The votes are in, and the winners for the 2003 BlitzHack have been decided! No, I am not going to say who they are here. To find that out, you'll have to head to the winners page.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who participated once again, and to say congratulations to our three winners! You may collect your prizes at the aforementioned winners page.

I sent out an email to all the entrants about how to go about voting about a week ago, and I haven't received many votes yet. So, hurry up and vote before you miss the deadline! If you didn't get the email describing the voting process, then contact me. I need more votes before the contest results can be determined.

The BlitzHack entries are now online. Check them out at the entrants page.

By the way, if you're wondering why I haven't updated the web site until now, you're too nosy. Heh, just kidding. I was kinda sick of the computer initially after the BlitzHack for about two days. Then after that, I was really lazy. And that's why.

It's starting! posted by on 01-04-03

Well, the BlitzHack is starting in half an hour. I will be in the IRC channel #blitzhack on EFNet if you have any questions. Good luck to all entrants!

Attention Hotmail Users posted by on 01-03-03

It has recently come to my attention that, for some Entrants that use Hotmail, the periodical updates I have been sending out(there have been two so far) may have been delivered to your Junk Mail folder. So, if you are an Entrant, and you use Hotmail, and you haven't been getting the emails titled 'Blitzhack update', then this may be happening to you. I suggest you try to fix it. That is all.

Just what the title says. There's about a day and a half left until the beginning of the competition, and all is going smoothly. I have sent out another e-mail to the contestants, so, again, if you haven't received it, tell me. I've also updated the media page with the new code and media submissions.

We now have 18 entrants at my last count, so it looks like people are eager to join the competition! I've sent out an important e-mail to all of the contestants, so if you have signed up but have not received the letter, contact me to get it.

A Small Update. posted by on 12-26-02

I'm back from my Christmas vacation, and primed to host this competition.

At the time of this writing, we've got 14 entrants, which is a lot more than I expected. This contest is going to turn out great, I can tell. Using my special "contest evaluation" super-powers, of course.

We need some submitted media! Four fonts is not going to be enough! :) I've put up a small hint to about the backstory up on the media page to hint at what kind of theme your media should have. Hint: Any theme will do!

The Official BlitzHack 2003 Web Page is here :)

The BlitzHack is a six-hour-long Allegro-focussed game programming competition, in which entrants strive to make the best game possible with extremely limited time constraints using a shared backstory as a theme and basis for the game, a shared media set, and a shared code snippet set.

Check the rules page for more detailed information on the competition; the entrants page to see who is currently signed up; the media page to see some hints on what kind of media and snippets have been submitted; the exercises page to get some blitz coding practice; or visit the join page to sign yourself up for the competition.
